ANGELA LUNDY |
Setup: Angela is in the middle of a fight with her fiance James. He has facilitated an unexpected and unwelcome reunion between Angela, her friend Nicholas, and Nicholas’ estranged sister Emma. Emma has returned home in the wake of the deaths of her father, and her husband Brad. Brad and Emma left town together suddenly, though Brad was involved with Angela at the time, and was the man she considers her first love. Brad recently died of AIDS, leaving his young widow Emma HIV+. James thought he was helping when he assisted Emma’s return. Angela is telling him otherwise.

ANGELA
I hate to break it to you, but on certain things there isn't a statute of limitations. The past is not static. It's not an object you can toss in the closet and lock the door and forget about. Drive halfway across the country, lose the phone number. It doesn’t matter; it will find you. The past is a living breathing thing. The past has teeth. It digs into the scruff of your neck and it never lets go. You might get used to it being there, but it never goes away. And right now mine is gnawing through to the base of my skull. So forgive me if I’m not taking this as gracefully as the two of you planned.
