Little Lifeboats: March 2017
Bryant Lake Bowl
Minneapolis, MN
The Minneapolis theater company Little Lifeboats enlisted four local playwrights to create new monologues for an acting competition in March 2017. The monologues were to be eight minutes in length, but capable of being excerpted for an initial two minute reading. Actors took the two minute segments and videotaped themselves performing them, then posted the videos online through Little Lifeboats. The general public voted for their favorites, and the top four vote-getters and their monologues were gathered for a Final Four showdown where a live audience determined the winner. There was also a half-time show from Big Gay Mexican Hector Chavarria. The Final Four performed on March 28, 2017, at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theater in Minneapolis, MN. (The winning monologue was written by Duck Washington.)
